UNREAL TIME
When you talk about unreal time you refer for example: hypothetical situations or impossible wishes. We often shift the verb form backwards. For example, the present changes to the past, and the past changes to the past perfect. As we have mentioned before this grammatical tense is very important since it helps us to express our wishes, situations that we would like to pass or that will change however it is not a reality neither in the past nor in the present, perhaps they could become a reality in the future but as the future is uncertain this grammatical tense is also. The verb to wish is followed by an 'unreal' past tense when we want to talk about situations in the present that we are not happy about but cannot change. for example: subject+ wish/ wishes + subject+ verb in past I wish I had a new motorcycle I would go to the university early. He wishes he were more hadsome. She wishes she had a new job. We wish we were at the beach. They wish they make a better effort.
